Well, well, well… For years Wii has been destroying the competition without even trying. Its games and hardware have been so popular that both Sony and XBOX started copying it just to catch up. But now, the domination is coming to an end, with XBOX picking up the top spot in September. Can they keep the lead?
According to analyst Michael Pachter, (of the Wedbush financial firm), Xbox outsold its rival almost 2 to 1, and it should be able to maintain that lead in the near future. Reason is, these XBOX units are fast becoming the ultimate entertainment system of the future (For more, read my article about Consoles Spreading Too Thin).
If Pachter is right, then that means XBOX has beaten Wii two months in a row. Not bad at all considering it hardly has any family friendly games (which is why Wii has sold so many units in the first place).
Now I’m very happy with this, personally I’ve been shocked that Wii had maintained the lead for so long, but lets see if this lasts. This has been a really slow news day, but I’ll be back tomorrow to review NBA Jam On Fire edition.
