Whaddup Gaming? 8/14/12

Half-Life-Gamescom-610x254

This is a bit of a rumor since it hasn’t been officially confirmed, but Valve may be showing Half Life 3 at Gamescom 2012. An official screenshot of the roster for the convention shows that Valve is bringing the beloved game out into the light after so many years in hiding. I’m surprised that they’ve managed to keep a lid on it this long.

Sure, fans have started their own rumors since Valve has refused to talk about it, but with all the gaming companies purposefully leaking their games just to get attention; it’s good to see this. Why? As I’ve said in previous videos, hype doesn’t make good products, passionate people make good products. I’m a fan of companies that don’t hype their product for no reason. They take their time and make the best game they possibly can, and THEN turn on the hype machine.

I digress; it would be good to see Half Life return to the spotlight since Half Life 2 was release to the PC in 2004. Has time been good to the franchise, or will it go the way of Duke Nukem? Keep tabs on Gamescom and other news to see for yourself!

*Correction* After finding out this information, I have learned that the folks at Gamescom were not entirely accurate when they posted the roster, saying that it was ‘a mistake’.

Then, a spokesperson from Valve came out, and said, “We are not showing any games in Cologne this year.”

Sorry, folks. Looks like you’ll have to keep waiting.

Angry Birds Seasons is getting a new addition. A new, female bird has been introduced in a video where she… blows bubbles to throw the big, bad pigs to throw them off. No other information has been released on what her ability is, but in a slingshot game that involves aiming and shooting birds strategically, I can see the bubbles being some kind of enveloping agent that surrounds item and takes them into the sky. When the bubbles pop, the item falls and smashes. This is, of course, my speculation.
