December 2023 Stock Considerations

0Shares

Hello All, I am going to try something new.  I will make a post once a month detailing stocks I am looking at and what I am looking at them. When it comes to dividend investing you need to look around and find investments worth your money.  Currently, I am simply adding to my positions and not expanding. This means I need to look at my positions and see which stock is worth buying right now and which ones can wait until later. You want to get the most bang for your buck so buying low and keeping long-term is the best strategy. However, waiting until something drops in price can be bad too. You might miss a good deal if you wait. Buy with confidence and buy after doing your research.

First, we have Altria Group Inc. (MO). People are smoking less so they are suffering from declining sales and smoking is constantly under pressure from a legal standpoint that this stock might seem like something to run from.  However, MO offers a variety of products, which helps them keep their volumes high, and they have been increasing and paying their dividends for years without worry.  They have a solid PE ratio and right now, their current yield is around 9% with a payout ratio of 77%. This is still a safe buy and I would like to add 1-2 shares of this one for December.

Secondly, we have one of the giants in the communications business, Verizon Communications Inc. (VZ).  I know many people talk crap about this one and do not find it worth their time but I think it is a good buy. The PE ratio is solid on this one and the dividend yield is around 7% and a payout ratio of 52%. This to me makes this a safe buy. This will not be a money making machine but it is a solid company with solid financials. I am hoping to add at least 1-2 shares of this one in December.

Third, like VZ, this one is a direct competitor and is a solid buy.  AT&T Inc (T) is the company I am referring too.  They have had a rough year in 2023, but I think they will make a good comeback.  Right now, they have a good PE ratio and their yield is 6.62% with a payout ratio of 41%.  People talk down about this one as well but I think it is a good addition to any portfolio.  I am hoping to add at least 1-2 shares of this one in December.

AT&T Inc (T)

Lastly, I want to add to something that is solid all-around and will gain me a bit more exposure.  I am talking about JPMorgan NASDAQ Equity Premium Income ETF (JEPQ). This ETF has many top companies in their portfolio such as Microsoft, Apple, Amazon and NVIDIA to name a few. Excellent way to gain exposure and diversify your portfolio. It has a nice dividend yield of 12% and I am hoping to add 1 share this month.

  • Altria Group Inc. (MO) seems resilient despite industry challenges, and Verizon Communications Inc. (VZ) and AT&T Inc. (T) present solid opportunities. The addition of JPMorgan NASDAQ Equity Premium Income ETF (JEPQ) for diversification is a strategic move. Looking forward to your end-of-month updates!”

    • Thanks for the comment! Yeah, I wanted to add a bit more protection so I am adding more to JEPQ. Also, I know VZ and T have taken a beating this year but that just means it is better for me. The price is nice and I can buy more now. I know they’ll bounce back so I am not too worried right now. And if all else fails, sell and move on πŸ™‚
